Medium Grants

Medium Grants are those up to £500 and are approved by the Director of Fundraising under guidance laid down by the Board of Trustees.

Staff apply for Medium Grants for numerous reasons although it is often specific to a particular child who requires something very specialist. Medium Grants are often also used to support additional training and staff development over and above that which is available through the NHS.

Funding decision is usually made within 48 hours of receipt of application and a total of x grants have been made to staff and individual children in 2009 totalling £x.

Small Grants

Small Grants are usually less than £100 in value and are made up from the small donations which come in via the wards and departments.

These gifts, usually £10 or £20, are usually restricted for the use of the ward or department they are given to and staff access them with the permission of the ward sister or department manager. As of the end of September 2009, we have made a total of 67 small grants this year in almost every part of the hospital.

ARCHIE Making the Difference

The ARCHIE Foundation welcomes applications for funding from NHS employees working with children. Our funding is only made available where it is shown we will make a difference for a child or children in the north east of Scotland or the Northern Isles. All our efforts in the Highlands are currently going towards the new Children's Ward Appeal and as such we are not currently accepting applications for any other projects in the Highlands until this is complete.

Funding applications from individuals or organisations outwith the NHS should contact David Cunningham, Director of Fundraising on 01224 559559 before making an application.

We aim to provide a decision on applications for funding below £500 within five working days. Applications for funding over £500 are referred to our Clinical Advisory Committee and then to our Board of Trustees. Decisions are made quarterly.

All applicants are encouraged to discuss their submissions with us and to seek assistance in completing their applications to help ensure a speedy and successful outcome whenever possible.
