ARCHIE - Sally Thomson (Arts Coordinator)

The environment within the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital has been magnificently enhanced by artwork all around the building.

Once the main part of this programme was completed it became apparent that there are many spaces used by young people which are neither welcoming nor inviting for their age group and would greatly benefit from this type of enhancement.

ARCHIE has been asked by the out-of-hours GMED service to enhance some of these spaces within the Community Hospitals across NHS Grampian. The Arts Co-ordinator will be working with these hospitals over the next two years to employ artists to create designs and arts interventions to invigorate these GMED spaces.

The artists will work with the NHS staff and the users of the community hospitals and most importantly young people in order to create the best designs for each space.

With the use of well designed artwork these spaces will become fun, welcoming and most importantly less intimidating to the younger patients.
