Two of the challenge organisers, Robbie Martin from Keith and Drew Smith from St Combs, returned to the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital today, still a little sore after their efforts, to deliver a cheque for £20,000.

The team from the Armada Platform operated by BG Group were given special permission to undertake the gruelling 2000ft descent just days before it opened to the general public after staff at the Cairngorms centre found out it was a fundraising event for local children’s charity the ARCHIE Foundation.

Fundraising Director at the ARCHIE Foundation David Cunningham was delighted to receive the substantial donation “every penny we receive really does make a difference for local children – so to receive such a fantastic sum of money is just incredible. We’re currently funding projects both in the Children’s Hospital and in numerous community hospitals throughout the north east and it’s great to know that we’ll be able to move forward with these thanks to this exceptional donation”.

Pictured receiving the cheque is Sammy Ho, a regular patient at the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital from Drew Smith from St Combs and Robbie Martin from Keith – both of the Armada Platform.
