Freefall Celebration for ARCHIE
On 12th September 2009 Muriel Gordon from Stornoway jumped out of a plane at 10,000ft, taking part in a tandem skydive to raise money for The ARCHIE Foundation.
When Muriel was asked by her family what she would like to do to celebrate her 70th birthday on the 9th June - her family were astonished when Muriel said that she would like to do a skydive for charity. Her son Robert commented "My mother comes from good highland stock having been born and raised in Stornoway, the desire to jump must come from her older brother William Macleod who was an instructor with the parachute regiment".
A Skydive was arranged for Muriel on 6th June 2009 as close to her birthday as possible. Unfortunately, due to bad weather and poor skydiving conditions Muriel was unable to jump on 6th June, and so the jump had to be rescheduled.
But on 12th September 2009 the conditions were near perfect for skydiving and Muriel Gordon was able to complete her 70th Birthday wish and raise a staggering £1600 for The ARCHIE Foundation while jumping from a plane at 10,000ft with an instructor.
If you would like to do a tandem skydive and raise money for The ARCHIE Foundation then please contact the office for further details.
