The Rotary Club of Aberdeen St. Fittick has successfully joined forces with Aberdeen Foyer – a franchise partner of the Prince’s Trust to sponsor a local Community and Personal Development Project.

Up to 12 local Team Members of ‘Aberdeen Team 28’ (who are all aged between 16 and 25) for the Foyer Prince’s Trust Team have re-decorated seven rooms of the Parent’s Accommodation Suite at the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital on behalf of the ARCHIE Foundation.

‘Aberdeen Team 28’ are currently working to complete a 12 week personal development programme to develop skills such as team working, communication, problem solving, leadership and taking responsibility.

David Cunningham, Director of Fundraising, ARCHIE Foundation commented, “We are extremely proud to have a Prince’s Trust team working in conjunction with ARCHIE. This has been a positive experience for all those involved and we wish these young people well in the future.”

Lynn Fraser, ARCHIE Family Support Worker added, “The Aberdeen Team 28 have been very efficient in completing the re-decoration of the room in the space of a week. They were also very respectful of parents who were staying in the accommodation at the time.”

Jackie Whiting, Foyer Prince’s Trust Team Leader mentioned, “I will be nominating the team for the Community Impact Award category at the Prince’s Trust Celebrate Success Awards in Scotland. The award is for teams of young people who have completed a community project which has had a positive impact on the community. Three teams will be short-listed from all the entries around the beginning of September, with the winner announced in December. The winner of the Scotland award will then be put up for the national competition. We will keep our fingers crossed!”

Jade, a member of Aberdeen Team 28 said, “It will be more comfortable for the parent’s when they are in the rooms.”
David, another member of Aberdeen Team 28 commented, “We got to work on skills we might not have had before.”
