Georgia's Close Shave for ARCHIE

Georgia (pictured above) will raise cash for ARCHIE by shaving all her hair off in memory of her sister

Brave student Georgia Gemma Black Radtke is all set to shave off all her hair for the ARCHIE Foundation. The event will take place on Sunday 1st August, 2010 at Malone's Irish Bar, Market Street, Aberdeen at 9.00p.m. Georgia has already raised a fantastic £600 so far and hopes to raise much more.

Georgia (25), who is currently studying for an HND in Travel and Tourism at Aberdeen College is formally from Lossiemouth and has been living in Aberdeen for the past four years. She chose to raise money for the ARCHIE Foundation on behalf of her little sister, Kerry Stewart who sadly passed away following a brain aneurysm in 1999, at the tender age of seven.

Georgia said, "Kerry was seven when she passed over. She was a great girl, a very energetic little tomboy and although it was short, she had a good life. When her surgery failed to revive her, our family was given the option to donate her organs and we all agreed that this was the best thing and that Kerry would want this. Her heart was donated to a 12 year old girl in England and is still going strong, and I am so proud of my little sister for helping give life to another."

Georgia added, "I chose the ARCHIE Foundation as during her time at Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital, Kerry received excellent care and the hospital were very accommodating to the whole family at this difficult time. My mother Eleanor Stewart has also previously raised money for ARCHIE, and when I thought of shaving my hair off for charity ARCHIE sprang to mind immediately. I am just fortunate to be a healthy 25 year old woman who is able to help those who need it most."

Peter Hutchison, ARCHIE Community Fundraising Manager commented, "Shaving off all your hair for children is such a selfless act. Georgia is such an inspiration to many people."
