Special Surgery for Brave Patrick

(above: Patrick McGhee and his signed plaster casts just before he got them removed).

Patrick McGhee (11), of Torry has undergone an operation which has corrected his 'tiptoeing' condition, and he is now walking with both feet on the ground.

The Tullos Primary School Pupil has walked on his tiptoes for more than 10 years. The youngster was diagnosed the the condition known as vulpius when he was five. He has now undergone the special procedure where a surgeon stretched his calf muscles.

The kind hearted youngster raised an impressive £150 for the ARCHIE Foundation at Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital by charging family, friends and his teachers to sign the plaster casts on his legs.

Patrick's mum, Catherine commented, "Patrick saw many other children who are really ill and he wanted to do something to help. He is a lovely boy and would do anything for anyone."

Patrick said, "I cannot wait to go to my Boy's Brigade activity week next month and to take part in sport's day on the last day of term. I am glad my operation was a success and I was able to raise money for kids at the hospital."
