Bob's Pedal Power for ARCHIE

(photo above: Bob Gillespie is pictured with his children Robert (8) and Ceri (4))

Turriff man, Bob Gillespie is getting ready to complete a demanding cycling challenge of 180 miles in just two days from Ullapool on the West Coast of Scotland to Aberdeen on the 19th and 20th August, 2010.

As well as completing the challenge in his words for "his own satisfaction and pain" Bob decided to raise money for the ARCHIE Foundation - a cause which has made the difference for his family.

His daughter Ceri (4) was admitted to the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital at varying times from 6 weeks to 2 years old, but is thankfully a healthy little girl now.

Bob, who is a Commercial Manager at Technip, Aberdeen, commented, "Having gone through that experience you really appreciate what ARCHIE has done for the children's hospital and the facilities available on site."

Bob added, "I am not part of any cycling club but have cycled for leisure for many years. When Technip decided to organise an event to raise money for charity I felt this would be a good opportunity to support the ARCHIE Foundation, which can really 'Make the Difference.' It did for my daughter and could one day for your family and friends."

Peter Hutchison, Community Fundraising Manager at ARCHIE mentioned,"Bob has taken on a great challenge and we wish him all the best."
