Running in memory of Jenna

Seven employees from market intelligence firm ODS-Petrodata's Aberdeen office have helped raise £900 for the ARCHIE Foundation - and got their fitness on track.

The employees raised the cash by running the Aberdeen Baker Hughes 10km race earlier this year, after team member Catherine McKay, a renewables reporter with the company, set up a lunch-time running group. The group's fundraising effort finished last week and was boosted by a donation of over £100 from ODS-Petrodata, which took the final total to be handed over to the charity to £900.

The team decided to raise money for the ARCHIE Foundation to honour Jenna Lane, the partner of one of their runners, Graeme Nesham. Jenna sadly passed away over a year ago.

Jenna, who was described as a "beacon of light" by her family and friends, qualified as a children's nurse in July 2007 and all of her placements, apart from the very first one, were at the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital. She died suddenly of a pulmonary embolism on October 18, 2008, aged 22. The ARCHIE Foundation was Jenna's favourite charity, so the team decided to carry on and continue her legacy.

Catherine (30) said, "All our colleagues, friends and family were extremely generous, and we were delighted to raise so much money for ARCHIE. Everyone was very supportive and we would like to thank everyone for their generosity. Most of the people who did the race are still running, and have entered more races since completing the Baker Hughes 10k, which is an added bonus."
