Quiz night held at RGU raises £1,225
On the 25th November, Distance Learning Project Management Masters students at Aberdeen Business School raised a grand total of £1,225. The students were recently tasked with organising a real life charity fundraising project and given just two months to plan and implement the project.
The Quiz night also included a raffle (with some local businesses including 210 Bistro. The Ardoe House Hotel, Craigdon Mountain Sports and Work's a Charm providing very generous in kind donation).
Seyi Olufinjana, one of the students who also works full-time as a professional footballer for Hull City FC and was able to secure two silent auction prizes of a football and shirt signed by the team and these were auctioned on the night of the event. Seyi commented: "Hull City players showed great concern and character as they went all out to donate and sign the ball and shirt. They send their best wishes to The ARCHIE Foundation and the children and families who they help."
Kev Marshall, another of the students involved who works for Babcock Integrated Technology in Rosyth, said "The collaborative nature of the event really helped bring our team together - which is a unique quality for a distance learning programme."
Cassie Thompson, Fundraising Manager commented "The ARCHIE Foundation would like to say a very warm thank you to Alison Lawman & all of the students involved for organising a quiz night. Every penny raised will make such a difference to sick children and their families throughout the North East of Scotland. The money raised will specifically fund ARCHIE'S specialist pain nurse. Chronic pain management in children is not a core NHS service, and together with training and specialist equipment, costs £50,000 a year to provide. We believe it makes a real difference and rely on the generosity of donors and events such as this to ensure we deliver this crucial service."
The Just Giving site up will remain open until the students' report is due at the beginning of December. This can be accessed at www.justgiving.com/RaRa-Avis for anyone who would like to donate towards ARCHIE.
