Stall for Rare Disease Day on the 29th February in RACH foyer

Rare Disease Day is a worldwide event held on the 29th February. Across the globe people try and raise awareness and provide information for those who have a life threatening condition.

Tracy Milne, mother of a child who suffers from a rare disease called Lymphan Giomatasis and Gorhams Disease, has to have regular visits to the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.

She is setting up a stall in the foyer of the Children’s Hospital where she will have information on her sons condition and on Rare Disease day. With everything from patient stories to cake sales, Tracy will be dedicating her day to raise money and awareness for research for rare diseases like Alfie Milne's.

“I desperately want to raise awareness for rare diseases like the one my son Alfie suffers from. Its incredibly difficult for both my son and my family because not enough is known about his condition. If I spread my story I hope it will reach others affected by the complications of someone suffering from a rare disease and help raise money so that research can be done.” Tracy Milne, Mother of Alfie who suffers from, Lymphan Giomatasis and Gorhams Disease.

The ARCHIE Foundation is a big supporter of Rare Disease Day, and supports many children in the North of Scotland with rare diseases. And therefore we are delighted to have Tracy here to raise awareness for this very special day.

Cassie Thompson, Fundraising Manager commented "We're delighted to be supporting Tracy and her family and fully support Rare Disease Day. We would like to encourage everyone visiting RACH to go along and talk to Tracy to learn more about rare disease. There will be homebaked cakes and an opportunity to make a contribution that will all go towards research into rare diseases that affect so many children and their families like little Alfie Milne."

With over 40 countries being involved from Europe to Australia to Japan, ARCHIE is pleased to see Aberdeen and the North of Scotland being represented.
