Beards for Bairns is a huge success with the Bearded Gents
Fathers, Brothers, Uncles and Cousins joined together to take part in “Beards for Bairns,” to help sick Children this winter for The ARCHIE Foundation, by growing their beard and raising sponsorship. Men who pitched in and raised money, in around the North of Scotland, made a huge contribution to vital funds for ARCHIE.
From Subsea 7 Oil Company, to traffic wardens raising money and even the barbor Ace of Blades were offering discount on special treatments to come and get full face massage and shave, absolutely everyone was getting involved.
One particular group from the IT Department in the Children’s Hospital even named themselves ‘The Bearded Gentlemen’ and held a party at The Rusty Nail in Rosemount, Aberdeen, on the 3rd February, where there was raffle games and a buffet.
Prior to the Event the IT department went to great lengths to raise an astonishing figure of approximately £1400. Games such as ‘Guess the Beard,’ were ongoing where people would try and guess the famous beards with the opportunity to win a prize were held and everyone was eager to get involved.
“This was just an idea but escalated to over 87 people taking part, it was a huge success and a bit of fun. ‘Dress down days’ were also held in December and January and donations also went directly to ARCHIE.” Stuart Young, Organiser of event.
Beards for Bairns is a really fun and a really warm way to raise money for sick children in the North of Scotland, over the festive period.
Stuart Young pictured below also raised money after holding his 40th birthday party in aid of ARCHIE. He raised a total of £1,342.10 in cash and a further £305 from his just giving page.
“I would like to extend a huge thank you to all the different people who got involved and helped raise money. An incredible amount has been raised so far but more is still being collected and counted. However, the total figure looks to be a truly amazing figure between £5,000-£10,000. This would have not been possible without contributions and hard work from everyone involved.” commented Cassie Thompson, Fundraising Manager.
