Caron Cruickshank

Caron, a registered nurse and midwife, is the Divisional General Manager for NHS Highland Woman and Child Health directorate. With 37 years of experience, she has worked in various settings, including hospitals, communities, and collaborations with local authorities, public groups, local MPs, and third-party providers. She started as a student nurse at 18 and later became the Maternity Quality Improvement Champion and the first clinical risk midwife for NHS Highland.

As part of her quality improvement role, developed an early warning dashboard for the service, which was the first of its kind in Scotland. This provided a safety mechanism to recognise potential risks in service delivery and make necessary changes to improve.

Later, she became the first divisional general manager for the newly created Woman and Child Health directorate for NHS Highland, drawing together maternity, gynaecology and paediatric services. Currently, she is completing her coaching and wellbeing course with Aberdeen University and dedicates some support to The Archie Foundation.
